Terms of Service
Last updated: August 23, 2026 | Effective: August 23, 2026
Welcome to ParentCal. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ParentCal iOS application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by ParentCal ("we," "us," or "our").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
Important: These Terms contain a binding arbitration clause and class action waiver in Section 13. Please read them carefully.
1. Description of Service
ParentCal is a family organization tool that helps parents manage their children's activities and events. ParentCal is available as an iOS application, together with this website. The Service:
- Connects to your Gmail account (with your permission) to scan for emails containing event information
- Uses artificial intelligence to identify and extract event details from your emails
- Organizes and displays events in a centralized calendar
- Provides features to manage, filter, and share event information
- Offers calendar integration and notification features
2. Subscriptions and Billing
2.1 ParentCal Premium
Some ParentCal features, including adding detected events to your calendar, require a paid subscription called ParentCal Premium. ParentCal Premium is an auto-renewing monthly subscription. The subscription period is one (1) month, and the price is $3.99 USD per month. Prices in other regions are set in local currency and are shown in the app before you purchase.
2.2 Free Trial
New subscribers may be offered a seven (7) day free trial. The trial converts into a paid monthly subscription automatically at the end of the trial period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. If you purchase a subscription while a free trial is still running, the unused portion of that trial is forfeited. Free trial availability is determined by Apple based on your Apple Account's history with this subscription.
2.3 Payment
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
2.4 Automatic Renewal
Your subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the then-current price for your region.
2.5 Managing and Cancelling
You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time after purchase in your Apple Account settings: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. You can also reach this screen from within ParentCal under Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription. Deleting the ParentCal app does not cancel your subscription.
2.6 Refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under its own policies; we cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases directly. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
2.7 Price Changes
If we change the subscription price, Apple will notify you and ask for your consent before the new price takes effect, in accordance with App Store rules. If you do not consent, your subscription will not renew at the new price.
3. Eligibility
To use the Service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction
- Have a valid Google account
- Have the legal authority to enter into these Terms
- Not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable law
The Service is intended for use by parents and guardians to manage family activities. The Service is not intended for direct use by children under 13 years of age.
4. Account Registration and Security
To access the Service, you must authenticate using your Google account. By doing so, you:
- Authorize us to access your Google account information (name and email)
- Grant us read-only access to your Gmail messages for the purpose of identifying events
- Agree to maintain the security of your Google account credentials
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
5. Gmail Access and Data Use
By using the Service, you expressly consent to:
- Our scanning of your Gmail inbox to identify emails that may contain event information
- Our use of third-party artificial intelligence services to analyze email content
- The extraction and display of event information from your emails
Third-Party AI Providers: To detect and extract events, we transmit relevant email excerpts to third-party AI services, currently Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, and Google (Gemini). We access these providers through their enterprise/API offerings, under which submitted data is not used to train their models. We do not use your data, and do not permit these providers to use your data, to train generalized AI models.
Limitations of Gmail Access:
- We only have read-only access to your emails
- We cannot send, delete, or modify your emails
- We do not permanently store the full content of your emails
- You can revoke our access at any time through your Google Account settings
The use and transfer of raw or derived user data received from Google Workspace APIs to any other application, including the third-party AI providers named above, will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on the rights of others, including privacy and intellectual property rights
- Upload or transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
- Use automated means to access the Service without our express permission
- Collect or harvest user data without authorization
7. Intellectual Property Rights
The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by ParentCal and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of any information you provide to the Service (such as children's names and preferences). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to use this information solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
- All events in your emails will be detected or extracted accurately
- The AI analysis will be 100% accurate
- The Service will meet your specific requirements
You understand and agree that the Service relies on AI technology that may occasionally produce inaccurate results. You should verify important event details independently.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PARENTCAL AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ParentCal and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; or (d) your violation of any applicable laws.
11. Termination
By You: You may stop using ParentCal at any time by revoking our access to your Google account and deleting your account from within the app (Settings → Delete Account and Data). If you have a paid subscription, you must also cancel it separately in your Apple Account settings — see "Managing and Cancelling" in Section 2.5 above. Revoking Google access, deleting your ParentCal account, or deleting the app does not cancel an active App Store subscription.
By Us: We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice.
Effect of Termination: Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. We will delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
13.1 Informal Resolution
Before filing any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at legal@getparentcal.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
13.2 Binding Arbitration
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's rules.
13.3 Class Action Waiver
YOU AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE RESOLUTION WILL BE CONDUCTED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT IN A CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION.
14. General Provisions
